After a couple days of delays while Charlotte went to the emergency room and later to an eye specialist in Taiwan said that she was probably having a reaction to contacts she had recently got and should not wear them and take a couple days before wearing her other pair and also gave special drops for her eyes to help them recover. Unfortunately because Charlotte did not have any health insurance in Taiwan she had to pay the whole bill for the trip to the ER, trip to the eye specialist and special eye drops. This ran her a total of $70. She is actually lucky she had this problem in Taiwan and not the US!
Anyway she finally met me at the subway stop at the border of Hong Kong and mainland China where we crossed the border and got on a train to Guilin (see map). The train took about 13 hours in which we slept most in our 1st class soft sleeper. The room has 4 beds, although no one came in for the other 2 beds so we got the room by ourselves (see picture)
