Day 66: Zhangjiajie(張家界)

Foggy Sunrise
Woke up early for sunrise this morning, but unfortunately it was really foggy and we could see almost nothing from the scenic point, but we had about 2 hours to wait before the park buses started running so we sat and watched the fog.

You can almost see the sun

Hiking around the park
We went to a couple different areas today, first one section to see some more rock formations followed by an area where an old village existed.  The village was basically a hiding spot for criminals that had a very narrow entrance so only 1 person at a time could enter and therefor the army could never attack the criminals.  Finally we went to another section of the park to view more rock formations and hike down the mountain.  The hike down was only slightly more scenic then the hike up, but longer.  Both Charlotte's and my knees where in quite a bit of pain after the 5+ km of stairs.

Two of the funniest moments of the day was when Charlotte heard a teenager run off to her family and yell "Mommy, I think I saw a foreigner!" and getting on a park bus another woman told her child, "Look how pale the foreigner is!" (And this is about as tan as I have ever been, but I was wearing a sleeveless shirt so my shoulders are pale)

They said, "This one looks similar to a New York skyscraper, so we call this one the Pentagon rock" I think they are slightly confused

Back in Zhangjiajie City
After the day of hiking we took a bus back to the city, got some more food for $1.50 and then took turns taking nap as we had a 5am train to catch

Insects and a frog in Zhangjiajie
I put this at the end in case someone doesnt want to scroll down, but besides the rocks the park was full of bugs and animals so I put some pictures that I took here
