Day 44: Taiyuan (太原) and Pingyao (平遙)

Computer broken...again
So my computer was fixed for a total of 24 hours...now I am running a temporary fix, we will see how long this lasts.

Morning in Taiyuan (太原)
Woke up and decided to spend the morning running some errands. We spent most of the morning looking for a store to buy a new SD card as Charlotte's camera died and I only had 1 SD card for my old camera. Once that was done we grabbed some noodles for lunch and then headed to the bus station to get to Pingyao (平遙).

Qiao Family Courtyard (喬家大院)
On the way to Pingyao we stopped at the Qiao Family Quartyard(喬家大院), which is where they filmed the movie "Raise The Red Lantern" (大紅燈籠高高掛). It was built between 1711-99 and lived in until 1949 by a rich family whose wealth lasted 5 generations. We also met A LOT of tour groups there, which made it had because there were such small hallways.

Pingyao (平遙古城)
After the courtyard we waited in the rain for about 30 minutes as we waited for a passing bus to pick us up. Finally one stopped and we were on to Pingyao. After checking into our hostel which was in the center of the old town we started walking around the old town. We also got some good local noodles for dinner.
